Welcome to the official website of The Putnam Valley Federation of Teachers (PVFT), Local 1867, of the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and its national affiliates.

The purpose of this organization shall be:

to advance the standards of the teaching profession.

to support a commitment to the genuine spirit of professional ethics.

to support the hiring of certified personnel only, and the employment of such professionals within the area of their certification.

to promote and protect the welfare and rights of its members.

to aid in securing and maintaining adequate salaries, tenure, sound retirement systems, and other such conditions as will enable teachers to function properly as vital factors in educational progress.

to cooperate with parent-teacher organizations and other civic bodies that promote educational objectives.

to promote solidarity and fellowship within the organization.

to hold and administer funds for the above purposes.
